Dear Community Members and Student Families,
It is with great pride and pleasure that I address the Centerville School family. Centerville School has a long history of high-quality education for students. The staff is dedicated to the mission of Centerville School; to develop independent, motivated and well-prepared students by providing a flexible, personalized and caring environment. We do this by setting the students and staff up for success. We strive to encourage and ensure the success, self worth, and love of learning in every child. We provide a flexible, personalized and caring environment, promoting successful life skills.
With all of that said, it is my pleasure to be the Principal of such a fine organization with such wonderful students and skilled staff. Academic achievement is the primary component of the Board and staff. We have high expectations to develop the academic awareness, skill development and cognitive capabilities necessary to be confident, self-reliant learners that are prepared for a complex and rapidly changing world. A second component of the Board and staff is to develop personal skills to be confident and self-reliant learners. And, finally the third component is that we expect each student to develop the social skills to be successful learners and adults.
We do this by providing a safe and loving environment with many learning and growing opportunities. We start the year with a Back To School Open House each year. We add community service activities like Jump Rope For Heart and roadside garbage cleanup. We provide the students the opportunity to perform 2 times a year in a musical production at Christmas and in the spring. We have many field trip opportunities at all grade levels, like; Outdoor School to Newport, Oregon, the Terracotta Warriors Exhibit in Seattle, the Discovery Center experience, Community Helpers trip in Goldendale, Farm Field Day at local farms/ranches, and more. We are also extensively involved with educational extensions through the Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife with salmon rearing, Klickitat County Conservation District tree planting, and more. We strongly support any and all learning opportunities and experiences for our students.
Parent and family involvement is also a strong component to the education of students at Centerville School. We have Books for Breakfast multiple times throughout the year. We also have Parent-Teacher Conferences two times a year. Many days you will see family volunteers helping throughout the school.
Centerville School is a strong and successful educational institution. We pride ourselves in high expectations and high success rates of our graduates. I am pleased to be the Principal, the Assessment Coordinator, and the Curriculum Coach. If you have any questions, please reach out to me.
Sincerely,
